Chemistry

The Chemistry Laboratory, part of the Core Laboratory, performs over 100 tests which include routine chemistry assays, as well as esoteric immunoassays and therapeutic drug monitoring tests.  Over 5.8 million individual tests are performed annually.  The Chemistry Laboratory is responsible for providing quality chemistry and urinalysis testing for the member institutions of UMassMemorial Medical Center, affiliated hospitals and clinicians in the Greater Worcester community, as well as clinicians served by an extensive outreach program.

The Chemistry Laboratory consists of facilities located on the second floor of Biotech One (University Campus) and the first floor of the Memorial Campus, as well as a Rapid Response Laboratory on the second floor of the University Campus.

The laboratory relies on state of the art automation to process and analyze over five million tests per year, with a turn-around time for most routine tests within four hours.

The laboratory also serves the academic and educational mission of the University of Massachusetts Medical School through collaborative research and by providing training to pathology residents.

The Chemistry Laboratory operates with an experienced and knowledgeable laboratory staff that performs laboratory testing 24 hours per day, every day.
