CPU - CPU Interfaces

The UMass Memorial Laboratories have several direct connections with other hospitals LIS systems, for the purpose of exchanging orders and results without manual intervention.

The nature of these connections requires careful planning and design to insure a reliable and continuous connection. The time and expense incurred with these connections makes these CPU-to-CPU connections appropriate only for high-volume interfaces.
