Histocompatibility (HLA)

The UMass Memorial Laboratories Histocompatibility (HLA) Laboratory offers HLA typing for transplant and nontransplant purposes. Typing is available at low/intermediate resolution (equal and better than serologic specificities) and at high resolution (at a single allele for most HLA A, B, Cw, DR and DQ antigens). The laboratory is ASHI accredited and typing results can be used for donor selection in unrelated as well as related bone marrow/stem cell transplantation. The laboratory also offers HLA typing as a diagnostic tool for HLA associated diseases and for HLA matched platelet transfusion. undefined

The laboratory is one of the few in the United States to offer high resolution testing for class I (A,B,C) antigens. Results of this typing can be used not only for clinical purposes but also for many applications in research. High resolution for DRB1, DRB 3,4,5 and DQB1 loci is also offered.

The laboratory operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5 pm.
