Microbiology

The Microbiology Laboratory offers a broad menu of services related to the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Routine and specialized testing is available to identify pathogenic organisms, determine susceptibility to antibiotics and monitor response to therapy. Laboratory support for Client Infection Control and Epidemiology Programs is also available.

undefined Our laboratory is one of the largest and busiest microbiology laboratories in New England, performing approximately a half a million tests annually.  The laboratory provides testing in all areas of medical microbiology, including aerobic and anaerobic bacteriology, TB/mycobacteriology, mycology, parasitology, virology and molecular testing for sexually transmitted diseases. The laboratories have experience with a very wide range of common and uncommon pathogens because of our large test volume, and the laboratory provides reference testing for our clinical affiliates.

Testing is performed 7 days a week and the lab is open 24 hours every day.
