Outreach
UMass Memorial Laboratories operates three laboratories including a regional laboratory that occupies 38,000 square feet of state-of-the-art space in Worcester, Massachusetts.
UMass Memorial Laboratories is the largest laboratory provider in central Massachusetts providing lab testing services for more than 900 physicians as well as reference lab services for hospitals and other health care facilities throughout the state.
We perform a broad range of routine and esoteric lab tests with short turn-around times, utilizing high-capacity, state-of-the-art equipment and the most modern front-end automation systems available.
Our laboratories are staffed with more than 425 lab technologists and support staff, including 14 MDs and PhDs who serve as the directors of various laboratories and who are available for consultations with clinicians.
We have an extensive courier network that covers all of Massachusetts and that makes more than 1,500 pickups per week.
Our phlebotomy staff provides phlebotomy services at our public draw stations (see Phlebotomy for a complete listing) and at other physician-office client locations, as well as home draw services.
Our Customer Support Service Center is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
We provide comprehensive Lab Information Services tailored to meet physician office practice needs, including:

Dedicated telecommunications lines to directly connect office practices to our laboratory

Internet web-based access for reviewing lab results and cumulative reports

Hardware support for lab printers, PCs, and network equipment provided by UMass Memorial Laboratories

Computer interfaces with physician office electronic medical record systems are available
