Support Services

The support services insure that the laboratory departments complete their mission in the most efficient manner possible, by providing administrative support, technology services and quality assurance programs.

Administration: The role of the Laboratory Administration is to ensure the successful accomplishment of the mission of our laboratories. Our mission is to provide the highest quality patient care, through laboratory testing and consultation, client services, education and research.

Information Services: The goal of our Information Services is to enhance productivity in all aspects of laboratory testing, from gaining information about testing to ordering tests and retrieving results. Therefore, the UMass Memorial Laboratories make available a variety of connectivity options for IT solutions with its clients. Based on pre-established criteria, connectivity to the Hospital Laboratories can be as simple as a fax machine, as complex as bidirectional interface, or a convenient as a secure web portal.

Quality Assurance: The Quality Management team offers a broad menu of services related to quality improvement and laboratory decision support. The service is involved with regulatory compliance, safety, infection control, best practice support, process team facilitation and development, innovative adaptation, statistical and data support, training and staff education. Quality indicators are monitored to ensure appropriate turnaround time, occurrence tracking, auditing and accuracy of reporting.
