Collect	Gold / SST.
	Also Acceptable	Plasma collected in EDTA, sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate, sodium citrate, or ammonium oxalate.
	Unacceptable	Heparinized or non-frozen specimens.
	Transport	CRITICAL FROZEN.
	Minimum Volume	1 mL Serum
	Remarks	Patient Prep: Overnight fasting specimen is preferred.
	Notes	Serum must be separated from cells and frozen ASAP, otherwise, lipase continues to break down triglycerides, giving rise to elevated levels of nonesterified (free) fatty acids.Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
